Verdigris Teams With Leap to Expand “Virtual Power Plant” Energy Network

Partnership will provide crucial flexible capacity to the grid and enable cleaner sources of energy to meet energy demand

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – December 14, 2021 – Verdigris Technologies today announced a partnership with Leap, a leading energy market access provider, in an effort to expand its next-generation Verdigris Energy Network, also known as a virtual power plant (VPP). Using a centralized architecture, the network optimizes energy resources across a wide portfolio of buildings. Leap’s platform aggregates flexible load capacity from multiple partners in order to deliver meaningful support to the power grid. Under the terms of the partnership, Verdigris will participate in Leap’s platform to provide VPP-generated capacity & demand response resources to utilities and grid operators.

“Our partnership with Leap marks a big milestone for the Verdigris Energy Network and will provide significant benefits to our company and to our customers,” said Mark Chung, CEO and co-founder of Verdigris. “Leap’s platform provides access to the energy market for our demand response resources, allowing us to focus on energy optimization. This will not only result in additional value to our power network participants, it will also enable us to use revenues from capacity resources to offset upfront costs for Verdigris customers.”

The Verdigris Energy Network is an innovative technology that adds significant value to customers, beyond simply saving on energy costs, by reducing the grid’s dependence on expensive fossil fuel generation. Verdigris Adaptive Automation, a building automation and energy intelligence service, automatically enables resource optimization without impacting customer operations.

“The need for grid-interactive buildings is growing at a rapid pace due to the increased frequency and severity of extreme weather events,” said Jason Michaels, Chief Commercial Officer at Leap. “We’re excited to team up with Verdigris to help maximize the value of their customers’ contributions to a cleaner and more reliable grid.”

Verdigris aims to improve building efficiency, reduce energy waste and decrease carbon pollution. With Verdigris, customers have reduced their energy spend by 20-50 percent, while meeting mandates for energy reduction and achieving carbon reduction goals.
